Trim Is Too Dusty. How Do I Keep It Cleaner?

Trim catches dust because it sticks out from the wall, gets hit by airflow, and is touched more often than flat wall areas.

Why trim shows dust first

Baseboards, door casing, chair rail, and window trim collect lint, pet hair, and fine dust from floors and airflow. Static charge can make that dust cling.

Clean before repainting

Wash trim with the cleaner recommended by your paint manufacturer, remove residue, sand or prep as required, and let the surface dry before painting.

Use RepelX during repainting

Add 1 fl oz of RepelX to 1 gallon of compatible interior latex or acrylic paint. Stir thoroughly and paint trim as normal.

Good test spots

Try a hallway baseboard, a doorway, a stair trim section, or a dark painted trim area that usually shows dust quickly.
